Foundation and Wall Waterproofing
WATERPROOFING UNDER FOUNDATION
After the pouring of the lean concrete, a machine trowel finish is applied. When the prepared lean concrete surface is dry, a single layer of a bituminous waterproofing membrane, modified with SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) Polymer, with a homogeneous thickness of 5 mm, containing no filler materials (such as calcite) within or on its surface, with 1600% elongation in all directions, maintaining flexibility at -25°C, fully adherent to the ground on both upper and lower surfaces with a PE Film cover, self-healing, and three-dimensionally workable, is applied.
Since the installation under the foundation is done as a free-laying method, the membrane should be overlapped by 10 cm longitudinally and 15 cm transversely, and adhered at the seams using a torch flame without flaming the bitumen.
Note: After the application is completed, before the protective concrete is laid, the waterproofing must be protected with a minimum of 300 gr/m² geotextile felt.
WATERPROOFING OF BASEMENT WALLS
After the pouring of the basement walls and the removal of the formwork, necessary surface preparations are made once the concrete dries. First, surface contaminants such as oil, rust, dirt, and dust that cannot adhere to the surface should be removed. Surface defects such as segregation or cold joints should be repaired using structural repair mortar techniques. Tie-rod holes should be filled with structural repair mortar up to a depth of 5-10 cm. A fillet of 3-5 cm thick structural repair mortar should be made at the junction of the foundation and the wall. Once the surface treatments are complete, the concrete surface is primed with bitumen primer to prepare for waterproofing. A cold-applied asphalt (TS 103) should be applied at a minimum consumption of 0.400 kg/m² as a bitumen primer. Once the primer has dried, a single layer of a bituminous waterproofing membrane, modified with SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) Polymer, with a homogeneous thickness of 5 mm, containing no filler materials (such as calcite) within its structure, maintaining flexibility at -25°C, fully adherent to the ground on both upper and lower surfaces with a PE Film cover, self-healing, and three-dimensionally workable, is applied.
Since full adhesion application is required on the basement walls, the membrane should be overlapped by 10 cm longitudinally and 15 cm transversely, and fully adhered to the concrete surface using a torch flame without flaming the bitumen.
Note: After completing the waterproofing of the basement walls, a protection wall with a minimum thickness of 8 cm should be built to prevent damage to the waterproofing before backfilling.
